PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing her former employer, Sweet Street Desserts Inc., for alleged disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Andrea Barbieri filed a complaint on April 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired because of her disability. The plaintiff claims that her position was eliminated the day before she was scheduled to obtain the results of an MRI on her back. As a result, she claims that she has suffered emotional distress and humiliation.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages and benefits, reinstatement, compensatory and punitive damages, interest and any other additional relief. She is represented by Julie A. Uebler of Greenblatt, Pierce, Funt and Flores LLC in Philadelphia.
