PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing her former employer, Kindercare Education LLC d/b/a Kindercare Learning Centers LLC, for allegedly violating the Family and Medical Leave Act.

Samantha Stalker filed a complaint on April 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was fired from her job within a month after allegedly informing the defendant of her intention to go on maternity leave. As a result, she claims that she has suffered financial damages, emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly subjecting her to disparate treatment and terminating her employment because of her pregnancy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of at least $150,000, plus compensatory and punitive damages, pre-judgment interest and any other just and equitable relief. She is represented by Michael Murphy of Murphy Law Group LLC in Philadelphia.
