HARRISBURG — A individual is suing Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Health System for alleged disability discrimination and retaliation.

Lori Ann Shiko filed a complaint on April 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants have subjected her to a hostile work environment on account of her medical conditions. She claims that she has been denied FMLA-protected leave and has been disciplined in retaliation for requesting medical leave. As a result, the plaintiff claims that she has worked in pain, endured a hostile work environment and missed numerous work days.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, legal fees, costs, expenses and any other equitable and appropriate relief. She is represented by Ari R. Krapf of Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti PC in Bensalem.
