PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing Allied Interstate LLC for allegedly violating telephone harassment statutes.

Jimmy James filed a complaint on April 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he continuously and repeatedly received calls from the defendant from May 2017 to August 2017. The calls allegedly were part of an effort to collect an alleged debt. As a consequence, the plaintiff claims that he was harassed, oppressed and abused. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly continuing to call him despite his repeated requests to stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,000 and treble damages of $1,500 for each violation of the act, plus actual damages, litigation fees, costs, expenses and any other appropriate relief. He is represented by Amy L. Bennecoff Ginsburg of Kimmel & Silverman PC in Ambler.
