Hotel guest files lawsuit after allegedly falling on wrinkled rug at Hershey Lodge

Slip01

PHILADELPHIA — A hotel patron is suing Hershey Entertainment & Resort Co, alleging that the company did not take sufficient measures to prevent injuries to guests.

Deborah Whitt filed a complaint May 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, claiming the hotel operator breached its duty to ensure that its premises did not present any danger after she allegedly tripped and fell over a wrinkled rug at Hershey Lodge on May 1, 2016.

According to the complaint, Whitt sustained severe and permanent injuries, including a full thickness tear of her right distal quadriceps tendon and damage to her bones, discs and muscles.

The plaintiff said she holds Hershey Entertainment & Resort responsible for the accident because, despite having knowledge that the rug was defective, the defendant allegedly failed to make the condition safe and failed to provide adequate warning of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of applicable arbitration limits. She is represented by Mark S. Kardos of Law Offices of Kardos & Goch in Philadelphia.
