Couple blames Speedway Store operators for man's fall

Slip02

LANCASTER — A husband and wife are suing Speedway Store #6729 and convenience store operators, claiming the defendants did not take appropriate measures to prevent injuries to customers.

Samuel Warren and Renee Warren filed a complaint June 11 in the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas, alleging that the defendants breached their duties to maintain the store premises in a reasonably safe condition.

According to the complaint, Samuel Warren was injured on Aug. 3, 2016 while shopping at the defendants' Speedway when he slipped and fell on liquid that accumulated in an aisle. Samuel Warren claims he suffered serious and debilitating injuries to his left shoulder, left elbow, left hip and the cervical, thoracic and lumbar portions of his spine.

The plaintiffs allege that Speedway negligently allowed the dangerous liquid to remain on the floor and failed to provide adequate warning that the danger existed.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek a judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $50,000, plus interest and costs. They are represented by Thomas Floyd Jr. of Thomas J. Floyd Jr., Attorney at Law in Lancaster.
