Commuter blames SEPTA, Amtrak and City of Chester for injuries from fall

Slip02

PHILADELPHIA — A commuter is suing The National Railroad Passenger Corp., which does business as Amtrak, The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) and the City of Chester, citing alleged negligence.

Wanda Ennett filed a complaint June 12 in the Court of Common Pleas Philadelphia County, alleging that the defendants did not take care of a dangerous and defective sidewalk and did not put up a barrier to warn pedestrians about the hazard.

According to the complaint, on June 12, 2016, Ennett was getting off a SEPTA bus in an area that the defendants owned/ leased when she allegedly tripped and fell on a broken part of the curb, resulting in multiple cervical and lumbar disc protrusions, a torn left rotator cuff that required surgery and other injuries. The plaintiff holds The National Railroad Passenger Corporation doing business as Amtrak,

Ennett said the plaintiffs should be held responsible because they allegedly have an obligation to repair, maintain and inspect the sidewalk on their premises to ensure safety.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a sum in excess of $50,000. She is represented by Marina Kats and Ryan Anderson of Kats, Jamison & Associates in Feasterville.
