SCRANTON — A New York couple is suing Happy Trails Stables, claiming that insufficient measures were taken to prevent injuries at the defendant's facility.
Victor Santiago and Shin Yin Liu filed a complaint June 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that Happy Trails failed to properly inspect its equipment before use.
According to the complaint,Victor Santiago was injured on July 2, 2016 when he was allegedly thrown from a horse, resulting in a compression fracture of his L1 lumbar vetebra.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek a judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of $75,000, plus costs and all other damages. They are represented by Sean McDonough of Dougherty Leventhal & Price LLP in Moosic, PA.
