PHILADELPHIA — A recruitment agency is suing Beacon Hill Staffing Group LLC, citing alleged tortious interference.
Aerotek Inc. filed a complaint June 22, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that competitor Beacon Hill Staffing encouraged and approved of its former employee's unlawful actions by hiring the employee to get Aerotek's clients.
According to the complaint, Christine Obercian entered into an employment agreement with a non-compete restriction, stating that she agreed not to work with a competitor for 18 months after her employment ended at Aerotek.
Aerotek said Obercian resigned on Dec. 1, 2016 and started working with the defendant on Dec. 5, 2016. The plaintiff alleges that Beacon Hill knew of the non-compete restriction and that hiring Obercian would result in a breach of her agreement.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and punitive damages in an amount in excess of $150,000, as well as any further relief that court deems proper. It is represented by Matthew Hank and Jonathan Shaw of Littler Mendelson PC in Philadelphia.
