Former employee accuses Turkey Hill of disability discrimination

ALLENTOWN — A freezer operator is suing former employer Turkey Hill LP, citing alleged disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Amber Brenner filed a complaint June 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against, alleging that Turkey HIll violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, Brenner was terminated on July 14, 2017, allegedly because she accumulated four work absences. The plaintiff said she has lost wages and benefits and suffered emotional pain and suffering as a result of the firing.

Brenner said the defendant allegedly refused to categorize her June 18, 2017 and June 19, 2017 early departures as connected with a work-related injury and retaliated against her by terminating her for making a valid workers' compensation claim.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, compensatory and punitive damages, reinstatement of her employment, attorney's fees, costs and other fair and proper relief. She is represented by Richard Bateman Jr. of the Law Office of Richard B. Bateman Jr. in Media.
