PITTSBURGH — A property owner is suing the City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, citing alleged negligence.
2826 Edwards Way Associates LLC filed a complaint May 11 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, alleging that the defendants failed to adequately maintain and inspect the city's sewers and public roadways.
According to the complaint, on May 6, 2017, a vacant lot owned by the city allegedly eroded and slipped onto the plaintiff's property, forcing 2826 Edwards Way's tenant to vacate the premises and resulting in a loss of rental income.
2826 Edwards Way said the defendants allegedly knew in advance that the street was unstable and that there were storm water issues along the street, but they failed to take appropriate measures to repair the problems.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in its favor. It is represented by Amanda McMillen and Dennis Popojas in Washington.
