Danville couple blames Outback Steakhouse for bathroom incident

Slip01

WILKES-BARRE — A Danville couple is suing Bloomin' Brands Inc. and Outback Steakhouse, citing alleged negligence.

Brenda Shalongo and Edward Shalongo filed a complaint June 29 in Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas, alleging that the defendants failed to keep the restaurant's restroom in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, Brenda Shalongo was using the restroom at the defendants' Outback Steakhouse on Feb. 8, 2016 when the toilet seat allegedly slid out from under her, causing her to fall and sustain injuries to her shoulders, right arm and neck.

The plaintiffs claim the defendants were aware of the broken toilet seat, but failed to fix it, failed to cordon off the area and failed to warn customers of the dangerous condition..

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek a judgment in an amount in excess of the compulsory arbitration limits of the court, with interest and costs. They are represented by Andrea Cohick and Zachary Campbell of Metzger, Wickersham, Knauss & Erb PC in Harrisburg.
