MEDIA — A woman is suing Oreck Home Care LLC, Oreck Corp. and Royal Appliance Manufacturing Co., citing alleged racial discrimination.

Deborah Quattlebaum filed a complaint June 27 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas. alleging that the defendants violated the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, Quattlebaum was demoted by the defendants to assistant manager from store manager on Nov.1, 2015. As a result, the plaintiff said she lost earnings, tips and employment opportunities and suffered emotional distress, mental anguish and humiliation.

The plaintiff claims the defendants discriminated against her by demoting her and reducing her salary to $8 per hour and by replacing her with a younger male employee. Quattlebaum alleges that the defendants constructively terminated because of her race and sex.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages of more than $75,000, reinstatement, compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs and other relief. She is represented by Graham Baird of the Law Offices of Eric A. Shore PC in Philadelphia.
