Woman accuses Scranton School District of negligence after fall

Slip02

PHILADELPHIA — A woman is suing Scranton School District, citing alleged negligence in connection with a slip-and-fall accident on school property.

Marisa Kortawy filed a complaint June 25 in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, claiming the school district breached its duty to keep John Adams School's grounds in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, Kortawy allegedly suffered severe injuries when she fell on the sidewalk at the school on Sept. 28, 2017.

Kortawy said the school district should be held responsible because it allegedly left the property in an unreasonably dangerous condition and failed to provide adequate warning of an uneven sidewalk.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against the defendant in an amount in excess of $50,000, with interest, costs and other appropriate relief. She is represented by Tullio Deluca of Tullio Deluca Law Offices in Scranton.
