Daughter blames West Penn Hospital, Allegheny Clinic for father's death

Medical malpractice 08

PITTSBURGH — A man's daughter and estate administrator is suing West Penn Allegheny Health System Inc., doing business as West Penn Hospital, Allegheny Clinic and doctors Blaire Jobe, Yoshihiro Komatsu, Kevi Christopher and Fahim Habib, citing alleged professional negligence.

Mary DiMatteo filed a complaint June 26 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, alleging that the defendants failed to perform a proper medical procedure and treatment on her now deceased father, Joseph DiMatteo.

According to the complaint, between March 21, 2017 and June 15, 2017, Joseph DiMatteo underwent two laparoscopic LINX surgeries and other operations and was admitted to the hospital as a result of several allegedly negligent medical procedures performed by the defendants. The lawsuit said Joseph DiMatteo died of multi-organ system failure on June 15, 2017.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seels damages in an amount exceeding the arbitration limits of the county, plus costs and interest. She is represented by Brendan Lupetin of Meyers Evans Lupetin & Unatin in Pittsburgh.
