Law money 08

PHILADELPHIA — A longshoreman is suing Thackray Crane Rentals Inc., citing alleged negligence.

Susie Grimes filed a complaint July 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that Thackray failed to properly train and supervise its crane operator.

According to the complaint, Grimes was working for Delaware Stevedores Inc. on April 14 at the Auto Berth in the Port of Wilmington when her right index finger was trapped between a chain and cargo hook, resulting in the amputation of a portion of her right index finger and a rupture of the exterior tendon, open fracture and an interior dislocation of the distal phalanx of her right index finger.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment for damages in excess of $150,000, plus costs and other proper relief. She is represented by Scott Portner of Freedman & Lorry PC in Philadelphia.
