PITTSBURGH — A patient information coordinator is suing former employer UPMC McKeesport Hospital and Dawn Baker, citing alleged disability discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Loretta Colhocker filed a complaint July 6 in the Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas, alleging that the defendants violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, Colhocker was fired on Jan. 13, 2015, resulting in a loss of income and employment benefits, damage to her reputation and aggravation of an existing medical condition because she lost her health insurance and is unable to purchase necessary medicine.

Colhocker said the defendants allegedly retaliated against her by terminating her for requesting accommodation and because she suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and diabetes.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in excess of $35,000, exclusive of interest, costs and other damages. She is represented by Peter Kobylinski of Praetorian Law Group LLC in Pittsburgh.
