PITTSBURGH — An estate executor has filed a class-action lawsuit against Sunrise Senior Living LLC and related entities, citing alleged wrongful death.

Tom McHugh, as executor of the estate of Alma Mazur and on behalf of wrongful death beneficiaries filed a complaint July 2 in the Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas, claiming the defendants recklessly disregarded the rights and safety of Alma Mazur.

According to the complaint, during Mazur's stay at the defendants' facility from June 26, 2015 through Jan. 6, she allegedly suffered repeated falls, facial fractures and trauma, and her health and well-being deteriorated unnecessarily, ultimately leading to her death.

McHugh said Sunrise allegedly failed to provide adequate and appropriate supervision to prevent falls and accidents, failed to provide adequate physical and rehabilitative therapies and failed to appropriately develop, review and revise Mazur's care plan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment in an amount in excess of $50,000, with punitive damages, costs and any other appropriate relief. He is represented by Michael Fuller and D. Bryant Chaffin of McHugh Fuller Law Group in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
