PHILADELPHIA — A person with a disability is suing Marriott International Inc., citing alleged disability discrimination.
Helen Swartz filed a complaint on July 25, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, against Marriott International Inc. alleging that the hotel operator violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on several occasions, she visited defendant's Residence Inn by Marriott - City Center Hotel where she experienced unnecessary difficulties accessing it facilities due to architectural barriers.
The plaintiff holds Marriott International Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly denied her access to goods, services and/or accommodations. She has multiple sclerosis and uses a scooter, according to the complaint.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order requiring defendant to make its facility readily accessible to and useable by individuals with disabilities, award of attorney's fees, costs and litigation expenses and such other just and proper relief.
She is represented by David S. Dessen of Dessen, Moses & Rossito in Willow Grove, PA and Lawrence A. Fuller of Fuller, Fuller & Associates PA in North Miami.
