WILKES-BARRE — Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance has filed a lawsuit accusing a manufacturer of selling a defective motor home that malfunctioned, causing a fire.
The insurance company is seeking more than $100,000 in damages from Forest River Inc, Sirpilla RV Centers LLC, and CWI Inc, which are manufacturers and distributors of motor homes, citing alleged strict liability, negligence, breach of warranties.
Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance and Allstate Insurance Co. filed the complaint on July 24, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, against the defendants alleging that they sold a defective motor home.
The plaintiff alleges that, on July 29, 2016, a fire broke out in a Forest River Motor Home/RV while it was parked at the property of Ray Snider, at 4043 Roundtop Road, Murrysville, PA, which resulted in severe damage to the vehicle and Ray Snider's property.
The Forest River-Forester Class C Motor Home/RV was purchased by Scott Snider from Sirpilla and/or Camping World, according to the complaint. The plaintiffs hold Forest River Inc, Sirpilla RV Centers LLC, CWI Inc et al responsible because the defendants allegedly designed, manufactured, assembled distributed and sold a defective motor home/RV and its component parts.
The plaintiff alleges that the defective parts extend to the AC power shoreline, electrical system, its receptacle terminals, conductors and its associated parts, which caused the vehicle to malfunction and resulted in a fire.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek an amount in excess of $100,000. Plaintiffs further seek for interest, delay damages and such other relief the court may find proper. They are represented by Raymond E. Mack and Patrick A. Hughes of De Luca Levine LLC in Bluebell.
