PITTSBURGH — A breast cancer patient is suing Walgreen's Specialty Pharmacy LLC, citing alleged medical professional liability.

Carol Sedina filed a complaint July 17 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, alleging that the pharmacy dispensed Xeloda with too high of a dosage.

According to the complaint, Sedina allegedly overdosed on Xeloda tablets between Sept. 21, 2017 and Oct. 17, 2017. Instead of consuming 10 tablets of 150 mg twice a day, the plaintiff claims she ingested 10 tablets of 500 mg for each dosing schedule.

As a result, Sedina allegedly suffered from anorexia and blurred vision and was admitted to the hospital where she was treated for severe mucositis, lactic acidosis atrial fibrillation and tachycardia.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limit of $35,000. She is represented by John Caputo of John A. Caputo & Associates in Pittsburgh.
