Rivers Casino sued for invasion of privacy

PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing Holdings Acquisition Co., doing business as Rivers Casino, for loss of privacy, severe emotional distress and humiliation for allegedly recording and displaying her private text messages.

Hayley Clerici filed a complaint on Aug. 3, in the Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas against Holdings Acquisition Co., doing business as Rivers Casino, alleging violations of the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Act.

Clerici is alleging loss of privacy, severe emotional distress, anxiety, embarrassment and humiliation. The plaintiff holds Holdings Acquisition Co., doing business as Rivers Casino, responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully viewed, recorded and disclosed plaintiff's private text messages, email communications and financial information by using surveillance equipment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in a sum exceeding $35,000 and such other relief that are lawful. She is represented by Mark F. McKenna and Theresa B. O'Brien of McKenna & Associates PC in Pittsburgh.
