PHILADELPHIA — A consumer has filed a class-action lawsuit against Eastern Revenue, Inc. and John Does 1-25, debt collectors, citing alleged abusive and deceptive debt collection practices.

George Bonser, also known as George W Bonser IV, individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on Aug. 13, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, against the defendants alleging that they violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

The plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 17, 2017, he received a collection letter from defendant regarding an alleged debt owed to Lehigh Carbon Community College, stating that $15 will be added for payments of $500 or less and 5% will be added for payments to more than $500.

As a result, the plaintiff has been damaged. The plaintiff holds Eastern Revenue Inc. and John Does 1-25 responsible, because the defendants allegedly attempted to collect an amount not owed by plaintiff by adding collection charges.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, pre and post-judgment interest, costs, attorney's fees and such other just and proper relief. He is represented by Antranig Garibian of Garibian Law Offices PC in Philadelphia.
