PITTSBURGH — A couple are suing Eat 'N Park, after the wife allegedly was hospitalized with food poisoning after having lunch at the Bethel Park restaurant.

Jennifer Handyside and Evan Handyside filed a complaint on Aug. 25, in the Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas, against Eat 'N Park Hospitality Group, alleging that the defendant failed to serve food that was safe to eat and fit for human consumption.

The plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 28, 2017, Jennifer Handyside and Evan Handyside were having lunch at Eat 'N Park in Bethel Park, when Jennifer Handyside consumed salad from the restaurant's salad bar.

After leaving the restaurant, she became ill from food poisoning, according to the complaint. She suffered from abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, nausea, diarrhea and anemia secondary to blood loss, according to the lawsuit.

Jennifer Handyside allegedly was hospitalized for food poisoning and received IV fluids and antibiotics for her condition, according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs holds Eat 'N Park Hospitality Group Inc. responsible, because the defendants allegedly were negligent in served food "in a dangerous and/or defective condition," according to the lawsuit.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in their favor in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, plus interest and costs. They are represented by Thomas D. Berret of Hal K. Waldman & Associates in Pittsburgh.
