PITTSBURGH — An Allegheny County resident is suing Seneca Area Emergency Services, citing alleged negligence.

Sheryl L. Foust filed a complaint Aug. 29 in the Court of Common Pleas Allegheny County against Seneca Area Emergency Services alleging that the service was negligent in failing to properly transport the plaintiff from her residence into an ambulance via a lift chair.

The plaintiff alleges that, on May 29, 2017, she crashed to the ground due to her fall from the lift chair while being transported by the defendant from her residence to UPMC St. Margaret Hospital.

She allegedly fell from its highest height, impacting her head, neck and spine on the concrete ground. The plaintiff holds Seneca Area Emergency Services Inc. responsible, because the defendant's agents/employees allegedly dropped the lift chair holding the plaintiff.

The defendant allegedly failed to exercise the necessary and reasonable degree of care and regard for the safety of Foust that was required under the circumstances.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of compulsory arbitration, plus court costs, interest and such other and further relief as the court may deem just and equitable. She is represented by Christopher Halesey of Woomer & Talarico, LLC in Pittsburgh.
