General court 09

Eckert Seamans issued the following announcement on Sept. 26.

Eckert Seamans is pleased to welcome Cecelia L. Fanelli as a member of its Hospitality Group. Fanelli will split her time between the firm’s White Plains and Philadelphia offices. She has more than 30 years of experience in litigation, dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings in the hotel, real estate, and banking industries.

“Cecelia’s truly impeccable reputation in the hospitality industry makes her an important addition to Eckert Seamans,” says Timothy Q. Hudak, CEO. “We are excited to team up with her to provide our clients with the most comprehensive litigation expertise in the hospitality industry.” The firm’s Hospitality Group is ranked nationally in Chambers USA’s leisure and hospitality category.

Fanelli, who has been ranked nationally by Chambers USA in the leisure and hospitality category since 2011, represents domestic and international developers, builders, owners, and operators of hotels and resorts, as well as lenders, franchisees, and franchisors. In several landmark cases, she has successfully secured multimillion dollar victories in hotel industry litigations and complex real estate litigations and workouts. Fanelli has defended lenders against multimillion dollar liability and antitrust claims and has tried a number of trademark infringement injunction and damage claims.

A recognized thought leader in the hospitality industry, Fanelli is a Dean’s Distinguished Lecturer at the Cornell Hotel School, and she writes and speaks extensively, particularly in the areas of law she has helped to shape. She earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School, where she served as editor of the Cornell Law Review, and earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania, where she became a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Fanelli joins Eckert Seamans from Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
