PHILADELPHIA — A sous chef is suing Bala Golf Club, a restaurant operator, citing alleged discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.
Michael Russell filed a complaint on Sept. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Bala Golf Club, alleging the restaurant operator violated the Civil Rights Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that throughout his tenure with defendant until he was fired on April 17, he was sexually harassed by defendant’s line cook. The plaintiff holds Bala Golf Club responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected him to severe and pervasive sexual harassment and fired him in retaliation for his complaints of same.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, litigation costs and expenses and such other other equitable and legal relief. He is represented by Richard Swartz and Daniel Horowitz of Swartz Swidler LLC in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Case No. is 2:18-cv-04190-GJP.
