LANCASTER — A married couple are suing a school's contracted maintenance service provider, citing alleged negligence.
Teresa Niemann and Paul Andrew Niemann filed a complaint on Aug. 22 in the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas against GCA Services Group Inc., a/k/a GCA Education Services, alleging it breached its duty to maintain McCaskey East High School flooring in a good and safe condition.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 25, 2016, Teresa Niemann slipped and fell, hitting her head and back against the floor in the hallway of McCaskey East High School. She sustained serious injuries resulting in great physical and mental pain, sleep disturbance, depression and inability to focus on words and to comprehend, the suit says.
Paul Niemann says he suffered loss of consortium, comfort and society of his wife. The plaintiffs hold GCA Services Group Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed the hallway to remain in a defective and dangerous condition and failed to provide adequate warning that the floor was wet and slippery.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in their favor for a sum exceeding $50,000, plus interest and costs. They are represented by Kevin Allen of Crystyle-Allen Law LLC in Lancaster.
The Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas Case No. is 18-7085.
