Lawsuits

MEDIA — A father is suing Haverford Township School District and Haverford Township, citing alleged negligence.

Ryan Carr, as parent and natural guardian of S.C., a minor, filed a complaint on Oct. 15 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas against the defendants, alleging they failed to maintain the school's double doors and steel post in a safe condition.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 6, 2017, plaintiff S.C. was an invitee of defendants' Haverford High School when the steel post of the the double doors in the band room fell and hit her in the head.

She allegedly suffered serious and permanent injuries that require medical care and treatment from a physician and medications. The plaintiff holds Haverford Township School District and Haverford Township responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to give adequate warning of the dangerous condition of the steel post of the double doors.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages of more than $50,000, interest, costs and such other just and appropriate relief. He is represented by Kristin Powers of Lowenthal & Abrams PC in Bala Cynwyd.
