Fired tow truck driver sues former employer for wrongful termination

PITTSBURGH — A former employee is suing Joseph C. Bellisario Jr. and Black Gold Towing Inc., employer, citing alleged retaliation and wrongful termination.

Dennis R. Sayness filed a complaint in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against the defendants alleging that they violated the public policy.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 11, 2016, he was in the course and scope of his employment with defendants when he was caused to slipped and fell on the icy roadway while assisting a third-party vehicle. 

He allegedly suffered injuries including but not limited to right knee and hip contusion, right hip dislocation, sprain and strain. The plaintiff holds Joseph C. Bellisario Jr. and Black Gold Towing Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn him of the dangers associated with performing towing services in a hazardous weather condition and terminated his employment in retaliation for filing a workers' compensation benefits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, costs, interest and all other just and equitable relief. He is represented by G. Christopher Apessos of Friday & Cox LLC in Pittsburgh.
