ECKERT SEAMANS: Eckert Seamans welcomes Christine Boronyak Bowers to Tax and Employee Benefits Practices in Pittsburgh

Eckert Seamans issued the following announcement on Dec. 17.

Eckert Seamans is pleased to welcome member Christine Boronyak Bowers to the firm’s Pittsburgh office. She has a broad tax practice covering domestic and international tax planning for businesses and individuals, employee benefit plan counseling, and nonprofit organizations. She has experience with the tax implications of forming and operating corporations and pass-through entities and structuring mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations. Bowers also advises clients on the design and administration of tax-qualified retirement plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans, equity compensation plans, employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs), health and welfare plans, and cafeteria plans. In addition, she works with public charities and private foundations on maintaining tax-exempt status, corporate governance issues, unrelated business income tax (UBIT), fundraising, and joint ventures. Bowers regularly represents clients before the IRS and DOL.

Before joining Eckert Seamans, Bowers served as a law clerk to the Hon. L. Paige Marvel of the United States Tax Court in Washington, D.C., was an international tax manager at a Big Four accounting firm, and practiced tax law at large law firms based in Richmond and Pittsburgh.

Bowers earned her LL.M. from the New York University School of Law in 2003, her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2002, and her B.A., cum laude, from Boston University in 1999.
