COZEN O'CONNOR: 36th Annual National CLE Conference: Intellectual Property

Microphone speech

Cozen & O'Connor recently issued the following announcement.

Paula Zecchini, a member in the firm's Commercial Litigation Department, will speak at the 36th Annual National CLE Conference on "The ACPA, UDRP and URS: Navigating the Alphabet Soup of Domain Name Dispute Resolution," on January 4. The number of domain name disputes initiated worldwide continues to rise as the misuse of trademarks to further cybersquatting, phishing and online counterfeiting schemes persists unabated. This program will discuss the dispute resolution procedures available to brand owners faced with the registration of domains containing their trademarks, and explore strategic considerations in deciding whether to file a lawsuit asserting a violation of the Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA) or initiate arbitral proceedings under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) or Uniform Rapid Suspension System (URS). The program will also include a discussion of recent legal developments and emerging trends to help guide brand owners in determining how best to protect their trademark rights and global reputations.
