PITTSBURGH — A husband and wife are suing Equipment Transport LLC, a trucking company, citing alleged negligence.

Joshua and Alicia Booz filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Equipment Transport LLC, alleging the trucking company breached its duty to exercise reasonable care in pressurizing a truck.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on June 19, 2018, Joshua Booz was injured when the lid of the truck supplied by defendant exploded due to pressure and struck him in the face.

He allegedly suffered head trauma and other serious and severe injuries. Alicia Booz lost her husband's care, comfort and consortium, the suit says.

The plaintiffs hold Equipment Transport LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently supplied a truck that was under excessive pressure and without a pressure relief valve and failed to attach the lid to the truck with a chain.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment in their favor in an amount greater than $35,000, plus costs and interest. They are represented by Kevin Lomupo of Gilardi, Oliver & Lomupo PA in Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas Case No. is 18-16667.
