Maternity ward patient claims UPMC Mercy Hospital employee exposed himself

Lawsuits

PITTSBURGH — A maternity ward inpatient is suing Michael T. Booker, a UPMC Mercy Hospital employee, citing alleged intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Melinda Perry filed a complaint on Jan. 3 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Booker, alleging the UPMC Mercy Hospital employee engaged in unsolicited lewd and explicit commentary towards her.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 1, 2017, she left her hospital room to go to the outdoor grounds of UPMC Mercy Hospital when she was approached by the defendant while she was standing outside. Booker made a lewd and explicit comment and exposed himself to her, the suit says.

The plaintiff holds Booker responsible because the defendant allegedly has caused plaintiff to suffer emotional trauma with his willful and intentional conduct towards her.

The plaintiff seeks compensatory damages in excess of $35,000. She is represented by Laura Balzarini of Balzarini & Watson in Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Case No. is GD-19-000126.
