PITTSBURGH — A parent is suing Moon Area School District and others, citing alleged violation of civil rights.

Jeffrey Klotz filed a complaint on Jan. 23 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against the defendants, alleging they failed to consider the negative effects of a situation on a minor child.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, as a parent of a minor child at JH Brooks Elementary School, he suffered irreparable harm as a result of defendants' decision to ban plaintiff entirely from the campus for plaintiff's alleged misconduct, including the child's transportation to and from school, causing plaintiff's child to be negatively affected.

The plaintiff says the defendants acted capriciously without taking into consideration the negative effects of the situation on the minor child, denied plaintiff from any school campus activity and premises, and threatened plaintiff with an arrest if he failed to follow their direction.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for permanent and preliminary injunction, attorney's fees, costs, and other relief as the court may deem just. He is represented by Shannon Steele of Santicola, Steele & Fedeles PC in Beaver.
