Juniper Village at Forest Hills is named in wrongful death lawsuit

PITTSBURGH — An estate executor is suing Juniper Village at Forest Hills, an assisted living facility operator, citing alleged negligence and wrongful death.

David Seigfreid, individually and as executor of the estate of Mary Goodrich, filed a complaint on Feb. 7 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Juniper Communities LLC and Juniper Village at Forest Hills, alleging they failed to adequately examine patient for signs and symptoms of a subdural hematoma.

According to the complaint, beginning in Dec. 12, 20112, Goodrich was a resident at defendant's facility due to her physical condition. On or about May 30, 2018, decedent was walking around the facility when she allegedly tripped on a curb and fell. She reportedly sustained a subdural hematoma and died on June 1, 2018. 

Plaintiff allegedly suffered loss of companionship, comfort and society of his mother. The plaintiff holds defendants responsible because they allegedly failed to promptly order diagnostic imaging upon learning of the fall and allegedly failed to seek emergency care and treatment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the compulsory arbitration limits, plus interest, costs and such other just and appropriate relief.
