Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued the following announcement on March 8.
March is National Women’s History Month, an ideal time to look at the history of women in the Pennsylvania judiciary as well as those women currently serving.
Almost 90 years after electing the commonwealth’s first female judge, 30 percent of Pennsylvania’s active judges are now women.
Three women currently serve on the seven-member Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and a majority of the judges serving on both the Superior Court (79 percent) and Commonwealth Court (67 percent) are women.
