BUCHANAN INGERSOLL & ROONEY: Buchanan Adds Labor & Employment Litigator Gretchen Woodruff Root in Pittsburgh

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney issued the following announcement on March 7.

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney adds experienced labor and employment litigator, Gretchen Woodruff Root, as counsel in the firm’s Pittsburgh office.

Root represents companies in a variety of industries, including financial services, manufacturing, energy, healthcare and communications in complex employment-related and business disputes. She devotes a significant portion of her practice to prosecuting and defending cases involving trade secrets and restrictive covenant issues and defending clients in wage and hour collective and class actions matters.

“Gretchen is a supremely talented and accomplished attorney. She brings with her extensive experience that cuts across a number of our practice areas, especially related to FLSA and class action work that fits within our nationally recognized group. We’re confident Gretchen will be a great asset to our clients who rely on us for sophisticated and complex work,” noted David J. Laurent, co-chair of Buchanan’s Labor, Employment, Benefits & Immigration section.

Root received her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her B.A. from Allegheny College. She is a member of the Women’s Leadership Council for the United Way and previously served as chair of the Sarah Heinz House Associate Board (an affiliate of the Boys and Girls Club), an ambassador to the MS Leaders Circle and a mentor to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Success in Law School. In 2017, The Legal Intelligencer named Root as one of 32 “Lawyers on the Fast Track.”
