McClure man alleges California university made illegal telemarketing calls

HARRISBURG – A McClure man has filed a suit against a California for-profit university and its president over allegedly illegal telemarketing sales calls.

Robert D. Kline, J.D. filed a complaint on Jan. 16 in the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas against Northcentral University Inc. and George Burnett.

The plaintiff alleges Northcentral University called him in August 2018 to offer its services. He alleges the calls were made with the use of an automatic telephone dialing system and without his express written permission.

The defendants are accused of violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, trespass and invasion of privacy.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. He is representing himself.

The defendants removed the case to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Feb. 18.
