Fox Rothschild LLP is pleased to announce that Jerald D. August has rejoined the firm and will lead its International Taxation and Wealth Planning Practice Group.
August was previously a partner at Fox for 10 years, during which time he served as co-chair of the Taxation & Wealth Planning Department and chair of the Tax Opinions Committee.
“Jerry is a renowned and respected federal tax authority and has long been a leading authority in the area of international tax planning,” said Mark L. Silow, Chair of Fox Rothschild. “He has decades of experience handling sophisticated domestic and foreign tax matters on behalf of clients and will be instrumental in growing the firm’s tax practice. We are delighted to welcome him back to Fox.”
August advises clients on a broad range of tax matters, including foreign taxation of U.S. businesses and U.S. taxation of foreign businesses and investors. He also has been involved in structuring mergers and acquisitions (both taxable and non-taxable) as well as joint ventures, financings, workouts and recapitalizations. He represents clients in tax controversy and tax litigation matters at the state and Federal level.
August is a frequent speaker and author on federal tax matters and has authored hundreds of articles published by national journals on a wide variety of tax matters.
August is a Life Sustaining Member of the American Law Institute (ALI) and regularly serves as program chair and speaker for ALI-CLE federal tax webcasts and seminars. For 30 years, August has served on the Board of Advisors of the New York University Federal Institute of Taxation and is chair of the Board of Advisors of ALI’s journal The Practical Tax Lawyer. August is a member of the American College of Tax Counsel, the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the American Tax Policy Institute. He is also published annually on international taxation for Practising Law Institute’s advanced Corporate Tax Practice Series.
Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New York and Florida, August earned his J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, his LL.M, in Taxation, from New York University and his B.S. and B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
August was previously a partner in the New York office of Kostelanetz & Fink, LLP and shareholder at Chamberlain Hrdlicka.
