PHILADELPHIA – A New York couple allege their minor daughter was assaulted by a worker at a Langhorne medical facility.
C.L. and J.L., parents and natural guardians of P.L., a minor, filed a complaint on April 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Woods Services alleging assault and battery and negligence.
According to the complaint, P.L. has severe cognitive limitations and is non-verbal. The suit states P.L. became a resident at the defendant's facility and on May 19, 2017, she was "assaulted and stomped on" by an agent/employee of the defendant with a shoe for "acting out."
The suit states that due to the action of the defendant's employee, P.L. has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and has developed trust issues of any mental health worker.
The plaintiffs are seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiffs are represented by Michael D. Shaffer of Shaffer & Gaier LLC.
