Law firm, attorney allege they are owed nearly $70,000 from Pittsburgh law firm

PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh attorney and his law firm alleges they were not paid several thousand dollars by another law firm.

Andrew J. Cornelius and Andrew J. Cornelius P.C. filed a complaint April 17 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Keevican, Weiss & Bauerle LLC formerly known as Keevican Weiss, Bauerle & Hirsch LLC; Leo A. Keevican; Michael A. Weiss; James F. Bauerle and David J. Hirsch alleging breach of contract and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege on Aug. 27, 2007, the parties entered into an agreement for the defendants to employ the plaintiffs in an "of counsel" position. The plaintiffs allege they delivered all of the services that they were asked to an in a workmanlike fashion. 

The plaintiffs allege the defendants received payment from clients for the plaintiffs' work, but the defendants did not remit those payments.

The current debt allegedly owed to the plaintiffs is $69,587.66, the suit states. The plaintiffs are also seeking more than $17,000 in attorneys' fees and liquidated damages.

The plaintiffs are seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by David L. Fuchs, Robert O. Lampl, James R. Cooney, Ryan J. Cooney and Sy O. Lampl in Pittsburgh.
