PITTSBURGH – A Connecticut woman and a Pennsylvania man allege a California-based corporation's website isn't fully compatible with screen reading software used by persons who are visually impaired.

Anne West and Tom Brown filed a complaint on May 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against DocuSign Inc. seeking declaratory and injunctive relief.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs are blind and use screen readers to navigate the internet. The plaintiffs allege that the defendant's website is "largely incompatible" with screen reader programs.

The suit states the plaintiffs have filed the action to enforce Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires that a public accommodation not deny any persons with disabilities the benefits of its services.

The plaintiffs are seeking a permanent injunction, attorney fees and court costs. They are represented by Benjamin J. Sweet of The Sweet Law Firm PC in Pittsburgh.
