Drinker & Biddle issued the following announcement on June 7.
Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP announced that Daniel H. Aiken has been appointed Regional Partner in Charge (RPIC) of the firm’s Philadelphia office. Aiken’s appointment took effect on May 24, 2019.
Aiken, a labor and employment litigator and Philadelphia native, succeeds partner Jill E. Bronson, who led the office for 11 years.
“I could not be more enthusiastic about taking on this role and working closely with our Philadelphia team of lawyers, professionals, and staff colleagues,” Aiken said. “Philadelphia is a special place for Drinker Biddle. It’s where the firm was founded more than 170 years ago, where so many of our outstanding lawyers live and achieve excellent results for our clients, and it’s home to an impressive group of young leaders moving our firm — and the city — forward. There is a palpable energy, on top of our deeply ingrained culture of excellence and family-like camaraderie, that permeates the office, which I credit to Jill’s dynamic and thoughtful leadership. This is a vibrant group, and great things lie ahead.”
Aiken began his career at Drinker Biddle as an associate in 2005, following a clerkship for the Hon. Robert B. Kugler, United States District Judge for the District of New Jersey. He became a partner in Drinker Biddle’s Labor and Employment group in 2015.
“Dan is both an exceptional lawyer and a natural leader. We are grateful to have him heading our Philadelphia office,” said Drinker Biddle Chairman and CEO Andrew Kassner. “His energy and commitment to clients and colleagues are illustrative of the best of Drinker Biddle. We look forward to being a part of all that Dan and our Philadelphia office will achieve.”
Kassner also took the opportunity to thank outgoing RPIC Bronson, a leading Corporate and Securities partner who focuses on corporate finance.
“For more than a decade, Jill has led our Philadelphia office by example and grace. She cares deeply about the firm and all of our people. We cannot express enough our thanks to Jill for all of her contributions,” Kassner said.
Founded in 1849, Drinker Biddle’s Philadelphia office is the largest of the firm’s 13 locations, with more than 370 employees, including 150 lawyers, at One Logan Square.
Aiken represents employers in a broad array of employment-related matters, with an emphasis on litigating claims involving the enforcement of non-compete agreements and wage and hour disputes. His practice also includes working with employers to help them proactively navigate difficult employment issues, with an eye toward avoiding litigation.
In addition to Aiken, the firm announced that Cheryl D. Orr has been appointed RPIC of Drinker Biddle’s San Francisco office.
