MEDIA – A Clifton Heights woman is suing a Springfield funeral home over allegations that her son was cremated before she had the opportunity to see him one last time.
Sandra Groome filed a complaint June 3 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas against O'Leary Funeral Home LTD alleging negligent infliction of emotional distress.
According to the complaint, the defendant provided funeral services to the plaintiff for her deceased son in June 2017. She alleges she and the defendant agreed not to perform cremation until both parties agreed. She alleges the defendant carried out the cremation prematurely without her knowledge or consent. The plaintiff alleges she was not able to say her last goodbye to her son or have appropriate closure.
The plaintiff is seeking damages of more than $50,000, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Gregory P. DiPoppo of Bello, Reilley, McGrory & DiPippo PC in King of Prussia.
