HOLLAND & KNIGHT: Eugene Chikowski Joins Holland & Knight’s Financial Services Team

Partnership

Holland & Knight LLP issued the following announcement on Aug. 5.

Holland & Knight announced today that attorney Eugene Chikowksi has joined the firm's Financial Services Practice Group in its Philadelphia office. Mr. Chikowksi focuses his practice on consumer compliance issues, particularly credit card compliance, as well as bankruptcy and risk management matters. He was previously with Gordon & Rees in Philadelphia.

"Gene is an outstanding compliance and bankruptcy attorney with strong relationships with decision-makers at Fortune 500 companies, including some of the largest financial institutions in the country," said Leonard Bernstein, the leader of Holland & Knight's Financial Services Practice Group in Philadelphia. "He has more than 20 years of experience advising the leading players in the credit card industry and is a valuable addition to our team."

Mr. Chikowski represents large corporate institutions in bankruptcy and bankruptcy-related matters. He has extensive experience with both commercial and consumer-related bankruptcy issues including matters for a Fortune 100 worldwide financial services company, an international media company, a leading petroleum refining company and other New York-based companies. Moreover, he has been the lead or a team member on consumer compliance projects for several financial institutions.

In addition to his traditional attorney role, Mr. Chikowski works directly with corporate clients in varied industries to bring the law of a particular area into the business practices of the client. His particular experience and knowledge is in the area of financial risk management analysis and thinking "outside the box" to solve problems. In this capacity, his work with industry executives in business deals entails development of new strategies for process improvement and management of financial risk by conforming business practices to law. When litigation issues arise, in addition to the representation on the specific case, he provides a root cause analysis after the case is concluded to reduce further exposure.

Mr. Chikowski has lectured and presented seminars for the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and clients on bankruptcy-related and risk management issues.

Mr. Chikowski received a J.D. degree from Villanova University School of Law and a B.A. degree from Wilkes University.
