PHILADELPHIA – A woman is suing Upper Perkiomen School District and Hereford Elementary School alleging that she was retaliated against unfairly.

Heather Bower filed a complaint on Aug. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff has observed classroom teaching at the school since fall 2017. She is a student at Kutztown University who is majoring in education and special education, with a minor in professional writing.

The plaintiff volunteered her time in March 2019 over spring break at Hereford and sent several emails requesting information about staffing changes that were taking place at the facility. The plaintiff was told that she was being banned from observations in the future at the school due to her inquiry, the lawsuit said.

She claims her request for information on planned staffing changes was met harshly by the staff.

The defendant is accused of retaliation.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Matthew Mobilio of Mobilio Law LLC in Allentown.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania case number 5:19-CV-03667
