Woman sues manufacturers of baler that she says sliced her Achilles tendon

Federal Court

Timoney

PITTSBURGH – A woman is suing two equipment companies, alleging that she was injured by a baler.

Bobbi Harpster filed a complaint on Aug. 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Bace LLC and Compactors Inc.

Harpster is seeking damages for an incident that took place on May 22, when she was working on a Compactors Inc. vertical baler owned by her employer, Nittany Paper Mills Inc., the lawsuit said. She had placed a sheet of cardboard in the empty compactor and stood up when the bottom of the front door of the baler sliced into her calf and Achilles tendon, resulting in extreme physical and emotional pain, the lawsuit said.

She accused the defendants of negligence, liability and breach of warranty.

Harpster seeks all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs, the lawsuit said. The plaintiff is represented by Patrick C. Timoney of Devine Timoney Law Group in Blue Bell.
