Pepper Hamilton LLP issued the following announcement on Oct. 14.

Pepper Hamilton LLP announced today that Saba Ashraf has joined the firm as a partner in the Tax and Private Clients Practice Group, resident in the Philadelphia office. Ms. Ashraf advises clients worldwide on corporate and partnership taxation matters, as well as the tax aspects of complex business transactions. She joins Pepper Hamilton from Ballard Spahr, where she served as co-leader of that firm’s tax group.

Ms. Ashraf handles tax-related issues involved in domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments and other business transactions, as well as the tax aspects of REITs and investments in real estate. She has particular experience in structuring business relationships that are subject to the federal partnership tax rules, and also has experience dealing with the IRS and state tax agencies during state and federal audits.

“Pepper Hamilton’s tax practice is well-known nationally, and in Pennsylvania in particular, for its work on large and complex deals,” Ms. Ashraf said. “I’m excited to join this talented team and to use my corporate and partnership tax experience to help the firm’s clients meet their business goals.”

Ms. Ashraf has represented major financial services institutions and investment concerns, global manufacturing firms, and Fortune 500 companies, and she has managed the tax issues on 10-figure deals, both in the United States and abroad.

“Saba has significant experience helping clients large and small navigate the complicated tax aspects of their deals. This experience will prove highly valuable to Pepper’s clients,” said partner Joan C. Arnold, chair of the Tax and Private Clients Practice Group. “We are thrilled to welcome Saba to our team.”

Ms. Ashraf received her LL.M. from New York University School of Law and her J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law.
