PHILADELPHIA — A minor has filed a lawsuit against the Reading School District after he was allegedly assaulted by a teacher.
D.G., who was 15 at the time of the incident, filed the lawsuit through his parents, Jack G. and Alyssa G. against the school district; Allen Dawkins, the school's Safe School Officer; and Jane Doe, the teacher, alleging violations of the Fourth and 14th amendments of the U.S. Constitution, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on Feb. 18.
D.G. claims he was in art classroom on March 12, 2019, when Dawkins angrily confronted him and began assaulting him by grabbing his wrists, forcibly pushing him into a desk and striking him in the face. He alleges that Doe failed to intervene on his behalf when Dawkins was attacking him.
D.G. is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is represented by Harry T. Coleman of the Law Office of Harry T. Coleman in Carbondale.
